The Mill Garage was started by the Horne family in 1974. Set up by Jimmy Horne, a mechanic by trade, when he purchased a bit of land in Duns, Berwickshire. Starting off with an old wooden shed in the corner Jimmy built the business on a reputation for honesty, affordability and excellent workmanship.

Jimmy was joined in the mid 80’s by both his sons making this truly a family business. The business continued to go from strength to strength with both sons now taking over the reins, one son concentrating on the bodyshop side of the business and the other as a mechanic. In the late 90’s Jimmy noticed the growth in campervans and a gap in the market. He subsequently hired a local craftsman to custom build campervans.

For over 20 years this part of the business has created bespoke conversions for many happy customers. Many of them returning for van number 2 or even van number 3 as we continue to offer a bespoke service tailored to our customers’ needs.

With nearly 50 years in the motor trade, Mill Garage (Duns) Ltd is a well established one stop shop for all your motoring needs, still retaining that family feel, personal service and attention to detail. Now the 3rd generation of Horne’s has joined the business and just qualified as a mechanic.
